OUR DRINKING WATER
Stadtwerke Konstanz (Constance municipal works) are responsible for supplying drinking water to our city and its suburbs. We also supply Reichenau and Mainau island with drinking water. A powerful emergency water supply line leads to our neighbouring town of Kreuzlingen in Switzerland, through which we can mutually support each other’s drinking water supply in the event of any fault.
Our drinking water is sourced from Lake Überlingen from a point in approximately 700 meters distance from the shore and to a depth of 40 metres. The quality of the untreated water is very good; only vegetable and zoological plankton has to be removed from the water from Lake Constance by micro-filters and sand filters in the water treatment plant.
The water is then disinfected by an ozone plant. We guarantee a safe supply with perfectly hygienic drinking water – which is regularly tested by the authorities and by an independent research institute.
OUR WATER PRICES (STATUS: 1ST JANUARY 2019)
Drinking water price (gross) | 2.07 Euro/m³ |
Drinking water price (net) | 1.93 Euro/m³ |
For organisational reasons, wastewater charges are invoiced together with the water price for the City of Constance (exempt from VAT).
The municipal waste disposal companies (“EBK”) of Constance charge a wastewater fee for the wastewater purification and for maintaining the sewage system. Stadtwerke Konstanz GmbH collects this fee by order and for account of the municipal waste disposal companies together with the fresh water charges. Info about the wastewater fees: City of Constance waste disposal companies (“EBK”).
